"Refresh Button"

Summer is often a time of rest and relaxation. It can also be a time to reinvent yourself anew. Put these ideas together and you get the theme of our first Summer contest: the Refresh Button!

To enter the contest, follow the checklist below. You’ll need an user account first. From there, you can upload your short story and submit it with the link below.

The requirements for the story are:

  • Minimum of 1,000 words
  • Maximum of 5,000 words
  • Must be somehow related to the contest’s theme, “Refresh Button”
  • Must be kept PG-13 or under

The contest begins on May 16 and ends on June 16. The stories will be judged by a panel of Upliterate team members based on three criteria: Topicality (how closely it follows the theme), Style, and overall Storytelling.

The first-place prizes are:

  • A $50 gift card
  • A copy of On Writing by Stephen King
  • The winning story featured on Upliterate’s homepage and shared on our Social Media
  • An author interview for the Upliterate blog

Second and third places will also be featured on our homepage and Social media.
