"From the Bottom of my Heart"

"From the Bottom of my Heart" is something we say when we want to convey sincere feelings of love and affection. But who's to say that love is the only thing lurking in our darkest depths? What's really at the bottom of our hearts?
It's almost Valentine's Day. Write a story about love or its imitations.

To enter the contest, follow the checklist below. You’ll need an user account first. From there, you can upload your short story and submit it with the link below.

The requirements for the story are:

  • Minimum of 1,000 words
  • Maximum of 5,000 words
  • Must be related to the contest’s prompt above
  • Must be kept PG-13 or under

The contest begins on February 5th and entries will be closed on February 18th. Voting will continue until the contest's end on February 28st. All times are in PST. The stories will be judged by your fellow Upliterate users on the following criteria: The Story's Theme, Craft, and Impact. The voters will rank the story according to each criteria on a scale from 1 to 10. The sum of each of these rankings will be the entry's total score and the entry with the highest score comes in first. In the event of a tie, the story that was submitted first wins the tie.

You can only vote for a story once, but we encourage you to share your entries with friends and fans so they can vote too.

The first-place prizes are:

  • A $50 gift card
  • The winning story featured on Upliterate’s homepage and shared on our Social Media
  • An author interview for the Upliterate blog

Second and third places will also be featured on our homepage and Social media.
